Keep Your Passions Your Passions

I love what I do...it fulfills me…I am so passionate about my work... Many times it feels as though people are trying to convince themselves as they say these things more so than the person that they are speaking to. Look, I’m not saying that an individual cannot be passionate about what they are doing as a vocation, I am however calling B.S. on the vast majority of people who are saying it.

According to 2015 data from Gallup, only 32 percent of employees in the U.S. are engaged. Their data, which was largely unchanged from 2014 and previous years, shows that 51 percent of employees are unengaged, and 17 percent are actively disengaged. Passion is defined as a strong, barely controllable emotion…does that sound like someone who is disengaged to you? People do not disengage from the things that they are passionate about.

The problem is, when we attempt to make something that we enjoy our work for most people it becomes just that…WORK. We believe that people should keep the things that they are passionate about their passions by NOT trying to make a living off of them. They should instead not worry about making any money from it at all…even being alright with losing money from them!

How does an individual go about doing that? They figure out the fastest way to get to living the life that they want to live. They stop asking themselves ‘what do I want to do?’ and start asking themselves ‘how do I want to live?’ and they find the path of least resistance to getting there. They stop worrying about making their passions their vocation and start worrying about finding the best way to remove money from the scenario so that they can pursue their passions as they were meant to be pursued.

Find someone who is truly living life the way that you want to live and work to earn their time and guidance. Passions add zest to life and become intertwined into some of our favorite memories. Fight to keep them that way.

Live life to the fullest,
